2016 Plans and Goals

Every year I like to set some plans and goals that I would like to achieve over the next 12 months. They're not usually particularly specific and I don't get upset if I don't achieve them but it's a great way to keep on track throughout the year, and will also help me writing my achievements post this time next year, like I did for 2015 here

Visit a new place or Country

Every year I try and visit a new place or country. Last year, I was lucky enough to go to Istanbul with work but I don't have any plans for this year... yet.

Raise money for charity
I plan to do this through some of the blogger events I have planned this year. More information will be announced soon!

Through LDN meet up, I've organised #BloggersVolunteer where we will be participaing in various volunteering opportunities throughout the year. So far we're volunteering and two Race for Life events in the summer

Learn a new skill
I still haven't decided what this one is going to be but seeing as I have my own garden for the first time, I really want to try and grow my own food and herbs so maybe by this time next year I'll be an avid gardener!

Finish decorating our house
Since Luke and I moved into our new house in December, we're quickly putting our own stamp on the place and redoing every single room, at once. It means living in a mess but I'm so excited to see the finished product - and blog about it!

Take my make up off at night and get into a night time routine
Much to most of my friends disgust, I don't take my make up off at night, and never have done. I KNOW, bad bad bad habit. But now we're about to get crisp white sheets, I'm using it as a way of forcing me to get into a proper skincare routine at night seeing as I already have the morning one sorted. This time next year, I WILL be taking my make up off every night... okay most nights.

Be healthier, fitter and stronger
This is a resolution I'm determined to keep. I do enjoy exercise, I just don't have the time or energy to do it. For the last week I've been forcing myself to get motivated with thanks to the #fitbunnieschat weekly chat I started, and also our fitness whatsapp group. Since my breast augmentation my arm and chest muscles are so weak it even hurts to carry my handbag for long periods which is ridiculous. 2016 is the year of strong Lauren - inside and out!

Drink more water
I am SO bad at drinking water, I literally only have one or two glasses a day. Sometimes I can go a whole day without having a drink and only realise at 6pm at night. This habit stops. I've downloaded the drink water reminder app which reminds me to drink and also counts how much I've had to drink so I know if I'm on track or not. So far it has really helped me and I've been using it for a week. Long may it continue.

Throw a housewarming party
Since we're not really having people round to our new house until it's all finished being done up, we want to throw a big housewarming party. There will be rules however, definitely NO red wine in my all white house! Lucky I'm a vodka drinker!

Make exciting plans with friends and family
Making exciting plans is what gets me through week to week. I always feel better when I have things to look forward to with a couple of rest weekends in between. A lot of my friends and family aren't very good at planning so I need to coax them into my way of thinking

Explore London more
I've lived in London for just over a year and have hardly seen any of it. This is definitely going to change in 2016, but maybe in the summer when it's not freezing cold walking around!

Run at least 1 blogger event per month
The end of this month marks the first anniversary of my first proper blogger event. I've loved organising them over the year and can't wait to do more. We currently have events and blogger holidays booked in Jan, Feb, March and July so I'm really looking forward to filling up our calender with loads of opportunities to learn, create and mingle

Blog redesign
My blog is looked the same for well over a year now and I feel like it's definitely time for a change. I still have loads of decisions to make though; I don't know exactly what I want, or who to use to design it, or whether to change to WordPress or not. I love the simplicity of blogger but I know it probably can't do everything that I want it to

Work on more varied posts
On Blonde Vision I cover beauty, fashion, lifestyle, food, travel, careers ad health and fitness. It's quite a lot of topics but I'd say half of them are quite neglected. In 2016 I'm aiming to post more regularly across all topics

Practice more recipes and blog about them
All of the food posts I've done so far have been really popular and I'm always reading everyone else's food blogs so I really want to spend more time this year on the food section. I have a few ideas for different series' so I just need to get my bum in gear and get to it!

Make an effort with photography – composition, props, background and editing
I'll be the first to admit, my photos aren't the best quality. I don't spend time on composition, props, backgrounds or even editing and I also know that this brings the level of my blog down somewhat. In 2016 I'm determined to spend more time creating beautiful photos

Start doing fashion posts
Fashion posts are something I've wanted to do for a long time but haven't for many reasons. Firstly and most importantly, my fashion sense is awful. Then there's the excuse of feeling awkward, not having the confidence, not have a photographer or a good backdrop, the list goes on. However, I love seeing everyone else's fashion photos and it's made me think that the things above don't matter, so I'm going to go for it this year. Finally.

Start YouTube!!
This one scares me more than anything. But, it's time to venture into the world of YouTube, even if it's just a couple of vlogs this year. I have a few ideas so maybe I'll get filming in the next couple of months. I don't have any lights so I'll have to wait for better light. If anyone has any recommendations of editing software for Windows that would be great!

Make a profit on my Events Agency
In the summer of 2015 I launched my own Events Agency which was the absolute dream, but now I need to put some insane hard work in to ensure it makes a profit this year. Definitely easier said than done but I'm determined

Double the number of clients I have by the end of the year
In order to make a profit, I need to increase the number of clients I have. By this time next year I want double the clients I have now. I big feat, but why not aim high? If your work, or someone you know needs an event organised, you know where to find me!

Diversify stock sold on Gifting Lounge
Summer of 2016 also saw the launch of my online gift shop, Gifting Lounge. In 2016 I want to spend more time promoting it on social media as I have so many accounts, I do tend to put it on the backburner a bit which I shouldn't. I also want to extend the product range offered

So that's it, my plans and resolutions for 2016. I do have loads more in my head, which I could go on forever about but I think this is enough!

What are you plans and goals for 2016?

Love Lauren xx

  1. Good luck with bloggers volunteer! I'm gutted I can't make it it's just too far :( these are fab goals though and so achievable! Xx

  2. Really good goals hun - I wish I could make it to the Race for Life event but will do it in Wales and hopefully raise some money too! : ) Also when you start taking your makeup off at night you will wonder why you never did before. I never used to but now can't bare the thought of going to bed without doing a full skincare routine! xx

  3. all of these monthly events sound fun! :D

  4. Wow you're going to be busy! There are some really great goals on here, and some I may well borrow for my list when I eventually write a proper one (always at the end of Jan, after I've finished with the New Year Blues). Wishing you everything you need to tick all of these things off before the end of the year x

  5. Ooh I am keen to see some of the blogger events you'll be running! Count me in :). In fact, good luck with all of your blog related goals! If you're looking for a designer later down the line, I'd love to work with you. In regards to Blogger vs Wordpress, it's really a personal preference at this point. Now that Blogger offers mobile responsive design (albeit not quite as many options as Wordpress), the pros and cons don't vary as much. If you love the platform and don't have any issues/setbacks from it, why change it? Why fix something that isn't broken and all that jazz.

ANYWAY! Good luck with all of your goals for this year! I know what you mean about exploring London, I have been here 4 months now and feel like I haven't taken advantage like I should have.

  6. I can never get my head around just how much you do!! You're like superwoman! I love how varied all of these are, though, and I have no doubt that you'll achieve them all!

    Jodie x

  7. You're going to have such a busy 2016!! Amsterdam and Frankfurt sound amazing, I'm so jealous! I'd love to travel more this year. Good luck with your goals!
