On 30th December, to celebrate Halloween, I took a group of bloggers on a Haunted London Pub Tour on behalf of Best London Walks and Lantern Ghost Tours to discover London's haunted past and have a couple of drinks in some supposedly ghost filled pubs.
I'll try not to spoil the tour just in case you give a go yourself but we heard tales of Sweeny Todd the Fleet Street Barber and visited Mrs Lovett's Lair, heard a spooky story about Spencer Perceval's death (the only Prime Minister to ever be assassinated), before heading over to the famous Cheshire Cheese a regular watering hole for Charles Dickens, Oliver Goldsmith, Mark Twain, Alfred Tennyson, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, G.K. Chesterton, P. G. Wodehouse and Dr. Samuel Johnson.
"Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford"
A quote which you may have seen on my blog many times!!
The tour lasted for about 2 hours, and we got to visit 3 stunning pubs along the way. I liked that most of the stories were relatively short as it kept everyone's attention but I was expecting more stories and to be more scared! Maybe I'm expecting too much!
However, we had a great night, with a fabulous bunch of bloggers. It was so good to see lots of new faces at our events too. Thank you to everyone who came!
Overall, I'd definitely recommend a London pub tour so let me know if you end up booking one!
Love Lauren xx
