UncommonGoods; A gift for literally everyone

I'm constantly on the look out for new, unique and innovative gifts for my friends and family, particularly at this time of year. As we get older, I've found it so much harder to buy for people (and write my own wishlists) because generally we're all old enough to be able to afford anything we need for ourselves which leads to the helpless feeling of 'what do I buy someone who has EVERYTHING'?!

So I've currently been on the UncommonGoods website for 2 hours and 43 minutes, and counting. They offer a massive variety of creative and obviously 'uncommon' gifts for every type of person you could know. Not only is the company a great unique alternative to more standard gifts, but they are also steadily working to make UncommonGoods more environmentally friendly, socially responsible and an ever-more rewarding place to work.

They are commited to creating, A Positive Impact: In the Workplace, In the World, offering Handmade, Recycled and Organic Products, being more green and giving back. In 2001, UncommonGoods created the Better to Give Program, which allows customers to select a non-profit organization to receive a $1 donation from them at checkout. UncommonGoods has donated over $1,000,000 since they have created this initiative.

Now I don't know about you, but all of those things make me really want to get behind this company. If everyone large retailer thought in the same way, I truly believe the world would be a better place.

I wanted to share with you some of my favourite things I found whilst browsing the website as I'm sure I'm not the only one always on the lookout for cool presents for my friends and family.

I fell in love with this product the second I saw it. Anyone who knows me would tell you, it's me all over. The idea is that it comes with 150 colourful slips of paper that you/others can leave notes in. It can be hung on the wall or displayed on a shelf or table as a beautiful centre piece reminder of a special time.

I can think of SO many things to use this for; as a wedding, birthday, anniversary or baby shower guest book. Or you could write down all your wishes for your life, or your children and open the pieces of paper up in years to come to see if they've come true. You could use it at the start of every year as wishes to make for the coming year or things you want to achieve before you're 30 just as on example. I'm honestly so in love with this idea.. as you can probably tell!
The Wishing Wall

We always struggle with date night ideas, so this Date Night Bucket List is perfect for couples like us. The dates are printed on a cute collection of birch wood sticks, for you to pick out, enjoy and then note the date on the back of the stick with the official bucket list pencil which is also provided so you can remember the great dates you've had.

Not that I personally like avocado's but as we all know the blogger world is crazy for them so this gift is the perfect choice for a blogger buddy so they can grow their own avocados at home. All you need to do is insert the seed of your last avocado into the pod, float it in a water bath, wait until it sprouts... sounds simple right?! and of course much more fun than buying them from the supermarket!

Avocado Tree Starter Kit

Now this is something I've never seen before but I seriously need in my life. We all know that our phones are a breeding ground for bacteria and we (most of us anyway), don't really do anything about it. I literally dread to think of what's on my phone so this phone sanitizer is a much needed accessory. All you need to do is place your phone inside, attach the charging cable, and close the lid. Inside, a pair of specialized, ultra-violet lights do the dirty work for you, while exterior lights let you know when the phone is clean and charged. It also comes with a micro USB charging cable that can be easily switched out to fit your phone's requirements. The case even allows you to continue listening to music or use your phone's alarm while it's getting its spa treatment - definitely one for the Christmas list!

PhoneSoap Smartphone Sanitizer

This is a gift for every gadget lover and something I'm seriously considering investing in... not because I need it necessarily, but because I just really want it. This retro projector accommodates any phone up to 3 x 6 inches and displays your videos, photos, or text on a wall at up to 8x magnification. All you need to do is slide the back compartment in and out to focus the image, then let the glass lens do its magnifying work without the need to connect to a power source - what more could anyone want from technology. There's even two slots for speakers or a phone charger, so you won't run out of battery.

Yet another product that I don't need but I seriously want, a portable Desktop Skee Ball game. Bring a bit of competition to the office and reward yourself with a much needed work break to have a game. This is everything your workplace needs!

Desktop Skee Ball

Ever since we had a floating beer pong table at our hotel in Cancun, I've been obsessed with the game. Okay I'm rubbish. I'm rubbish at throwing the ball and I'm rubbish at downing the drinks, but hey, it's all good fun. Start by filling the shot glass-sized cups (now these, I could down!) and placing them on the no-tip slots in the game board (dishwasher friendly for easy clean up). Players take turns using built-in launchers to fling their ball towards the opposing team's cups. If your opponent's ball lands in one of your cups, you drink. A light nylon cord keeps the ball from rolling away in the event of a miss, which is amazing, because I can't tell you the amount of times I've been crawling around the floor in search of the lost ping pong ball. The game ends when one side gets their ball into all of the other team's cups, or the board becomes too blurry to continue playing. This is the most perfect travel game and one we all need to invest in!

I think my want for this product comes from watching too many films about Americnl College parties, but nevertheless, I've always wanted to make a keg from some kind of fruit. And this device seems to make it simple enough. All you need to do is slice the bottom off the fruit to create a level base, then hollow it out (yes, like a pumpkin) and fill with some amazing summer cocktail concoction. Then insert the faucet to enjoy the drink. Okay so I don't know how easy this is, and whether the whole fruit will collapse in the process, but hey, it looks fun.

I'm the first to admit I struggle making decisions. Usually I'm good at making decisions about big things, but strangely struggle on the small things so this is a perfect gift for people like me who can leave the stress of decision making to someone something else.

So my phone battery usually lasts a matter of hours, and that is no exaggeration. I challenge you to find another person who uses their phone more than me! Because of my ridiculously short battery life, I invested in a portable phone charger, but hey guess what, you need to charge the phone charger (for a LONG time, can I add) for it to actually work... something I very rarely remember to do. So this little baby, is everything I need.

Roughly the size and weight of a phone, this solar powered charger connects to your device via USB port to give you a full charge in two hours, the innovative device also gives off a light for up to 150 hours and features an SOS emergency beacon setting. Fitting well to the ethos of UncommonGoods, for each solar charger purchase, a light is given to one of the many people throughout the world without access to electricity. A code is included in the charger's package that allows you to choose where in the world the contribution is given. I honestly couldn't think of a more perfect present to give someone than this and it's definitely at the top of my list!

This is a perfect gift for all the foodies out there. I always struggle with ideas in the kitchen, and even when I have ideas, I struggle to chose exactly what to cook. Those days are over. Laser engraved on wood, five primary dice offer protein options, cooking methods, grain/carb selections, herb choices, and bonus ingredients. Four additional dice offer seasonal veggies to spice up your dish. Roll and accept your challenge. With over 186,000 possible combinations, this foodie essential comes in a cotton muslin drawstring pouch and sparks creativity and a little gamble in the kitchen.

Not that this is something I do often, but I'm just saying, you know when you go running but you have so much to take with you, you might as well take your whole handbag? This is my problem. Well it was my problem, which I think this handy phone storage water bottle has solved. This bottle holds your phone, credit cards, and any other bits you have between two water compartments. The twist-off bottom incorporates a port for headphones so you can keep listening while your phone is inside. The tough, Tritan plastic construction is 100% BPA free and leak-proof, making this bottle a great option for your workout or even just a walk or a day out. Yes it'll make it a bit heavier, but just think of the arm workout you'll be getting!

Last but by no means least is this beautiful paperweight. Now, if you follow me on Pinterest, you'll know how much I love a quote. I literally live by them and scrolling through my quot boards on Pinterest, really does give me heaps of inspiration and motivation when I need it most. This quote by Mahatma Gandhi, is one of my favourites; "Be the change you wish to see in the world", and one I would love to have sitting on my desk every day.

I hope you enjoyed exploring these products as much as I did. Don't forget to check out their full range of Christmas gifts, or if it's easier, search by recipient like gifts for women or gifts for my wife (this is the link to share around ladies!).

Love Lauren xx
