A Brand I Want To Try: Nars

A day doesn't go by without a Nars product on my Twitter or Bloglovin timelines. It's a brand I've wanted to try for so long but haven't yet for some reason or another so I thought it was time to put together a list of the top 5 products I want to try!

1. Sheer Glow Foundation - £31.00 - Link here

They say: "A glowing, natural radiant finish foundation with sheer and buildable coverage that immaculately evens skin tone. Replete with skincare benefits and the NARS complexion brightening formula, it leaves skin hydrated, more luminous, softer and smoother. Used daily, it improves the skins brightness and texture"

I have reasonably dry skin and this foundation has been on my wishlist for quite a while after reading lots of glowing reviews from other beauty bloggers! I just have no idea what colour I'd go for! Any suggestions?!

2. Bronzing Powder - £27.00 - Link here

They say: "Bronzing powder created the ultimate healthy glow. Diffused powders with golden shimmer create an all over warmth or contour for the face perfect for creating or enhancing for look of tanned skin. Finely milled powders fills in lines and pores for smoother, more even looking complexion"

This is another product I've seen lots of lovely review on. I've also asked in a couple of beauty chats for a contouring recommendation and the Nars Laguna always always comes up, hence the reason for adding it to my 'must buy' list!

3. Multiple - £30.00 - Link here

They say: "FranÒ«ois Nars’ iconic innovation, the original multi-purpose stick for eyes, cheeks, lips ad body. Its unique creamy formula and sheer colour blends effortlessly to create shimmering accents, contours or dynamic highlights on all skin tons. Apply with fingers, the skin’s warmth allows for perfect blending"

This product caught my eye whilst browsing on the website. The description sounds like the perfect product being really versatile which I love. I haven't seen any reviews on this so if anyone has one, please send it my way! I have no idea what shade I'd go for but I love the sound of it!

4. Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow - £21.00 - Link here

They say: "Mesmerizing new dual-intensity eyeshadow features a luxuriously smooth transformative texture. Twelve ready-to-wear and rebelliously romantic sophisticated shades to express a riveting range of eye drama"

I love the look of the Sycorax Black eyeshadow. I'm a sucker for black eyeshadow and big smokey eyes so this was addition to my wishlist was a no brainer!

5. New Wave Palette - £39.50 - Link here

They say: "Leave no look unimagined. Vibrant violets juxtapose with chartreuse and vivid blue in an edgy electro cool colour palette for eyes"

Heaven in a palette!! No need to say more, photo says a thousand words!

Save or Splurge? Gel pencil eyeliners

I know quite a lot of you love the Urban Decay pencil so I thought this post would introduce you to another cheaper (and better) option; we all love a good dupe!

I love big black smokey eyes with lashings of black eyeliner and there's nothing I hate more than a jet black eyeliner coming out a light grey colour. Over the last couple of years I've discovered gel pencil eyeliners. My first one was the Avon Supershock Gel Eyeliner, then I got to try the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Pencil and now they're a staple item in my make-up bag.

* excuse the state of the photos! You can see they're well used items!!

Avon SuperShock Gel Eyeliner in Black

They say: "Gel style eyeliner in an easy-to-use pencil for a bold intensive colour"

Price: £6.00 usual brochure price but can go down to £3.00/£3.50 depending on the promotions in that particular brochure

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Zero Black

They Say: "The best Eye Pencil ever, ever, ever! Never before has a pencil this creamy and brilliant been waterproof too Velvety-soft, this never-before-seen formula stays soft and creamy for blending (about 30 seconds), then dries down to a long-lasting finish that WILL NOT budge"

Price: £15.00

The Test

Left: Avon SuperShock Gel Eyeliner
Right: Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil

I think this photo explains all. While the Urban Decay pencil claims to be velvety, creamy and the 'best ever ever ever' the Avon pencil does all of those things but better! It lasts all day, and night and is even still on the next morning - trust me I've tried it! It glides on well, is creamy and gives a strong pigmented colour which I love.

Right: Avon SuperShock Gel Eyeliner

As this photo shows, the line on the Avon liner is stronger, sharper and more defined. This is because the pencil goes on so smoothly and velvety in comparison to the Urban Decay one.

Verdict: SAVE!!

If you love the 24/7 pencil I definitely urge you to try the Avon one - you won't be disappointed!

Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Review

Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum in N55

I keep seeing reviews of this foundation on all your lovely blogs and I've finally decided to take the plunge and give it a go. I'm currently switching between Chanel Vitalumiere when I want a less coverage dewy look and Mac Studio fix when I want a full coverage but I ideally I'm looking for a foundation which will be a happy medium between the two.

Can't believe I actually uploaded a completely makeup-less photo (so cringe!) but I think it's important to show the foundation on my skin before and after rather than just a blob on my hand!!

Verdict

I love it! It covers well without being cakey and is buildable. The foundation feels quite light on my skin, and it smells amazing which is a bonus.

Thanks to every lovely blogger who has previously written glowing reviews on this foundation as I wouldn't have bought it otherwise!

Finished look - foundation applied with Real Techniques Stippling Brush

If anyone else has any foundation recommendations for dry skin and a fuller coverage, please send them my way!!

Real techniques haul #1

I've finally taken the plunge and bought some Real Techniques brushes! I've worked with Sam and Nic Chapman previously (see post here) and know what amazing make-up artists they are so if the brushes work for them, and the rest of you beautiful bloggers, then I had to try them out myself too!

Currently on a mission to find the combination to a perfect complexion, I knew the core collection was going to be the first on my list. I have to say I'm really impressed. I love the case which doubles as a stand, particularly as my brushes get ruined easily in my make-up bag. I already use a flat foundation brush so I'm not sure I'll use that one but I've been using the other three every day!

I've seen so many people using the stippling brush but for some reason I've never believed the hype. I have to say, I've used it for a couple of days now and I've incredible! My foundation is suddenly going on so much better, smoother and looks a lot more flawless. I'm so impressed I don't know why it took me so long to buy it! Holy Grail product without a doubt!!!
